Synopsis

A potential short film about a group of friends in college is set on the college a campus in Nashville. There is a group of friends who just started hanging out a few months ago, when the school semester started. They are all freshman. They came together from their similar background of being raised in Memphis, but other than that, our main character, Patrick, has few in common with his new friends. Patrick is an 18 year old white boy who is majoring in business. He is quiet and tries to stay out of trouble. He has 3  friends. One of them is Travis. Travis is also 18 and majoring in business. He is loud and usually dominates his environment even though he is short.

Patrick has always been uncomfortable about his place in the group, so he has been befriending people outside of the group and uninviting himself to functions with them. In front of the group, Patrick gets approached by a girl he knows and she says “Hi” to him and leaves. The guys thinks she is flirting and that Patrick should pursue her. They peer pressure him into actually flirting with her. Before he gets to, Travis gives Patrick some awful advice on picking her up. Patrick gets brutally rejected. The advice was so bad Patrick thinks Travis meant for him to get rejected. He can also see his friend in the distance laughing at him. Patrick gets angry and walks home. On his way, he literally runs into some thugs, so they rough him up. Then his friends come to save him. Getting beat up in the process. Patrick respects his friends for this and their friendship gets tighter.

I would compare this film to Superbad. Where the stakes are low, but treated with extreme importance. It would have the atmosphere of the Office with jokes that aren't trying too hard, and actions that over exaggerate character traits.

Film Pitch

I in vision a short romantic comedy film about a college freshman who isn't very social, and his friends push him too far in social situations.

His name is Patrick. He's from Memphis. He now attends a University in St Louis, majoring in Social Science. He's coming from a Upper middle class household. He's always been his mom's baby. He is straight out of high school. He spent most of his teenage years on the internet. He fit in well with his high school group of nerdy friends that shared his love for TV dramas, card games, and techno, but they all went in separate directions. His met his current college friends because they all came from Memphis as well. His knew friends are not like him. They're 1000x more social and expect Patrick to be like them.

One day a girl from one of Patrick 's approaches the group at Patrick's Locker and greets noone else but Patrick. His friends see this and after she leaves they bother Patrick to pursue her. He finally is persuaded into it. One of Patrick's friends pulls him aside for some additional tips before he talks to the girl. His name is Travis.

Travis is a loud guy, and also a hater. He usually doesn't get respect and he tries to compensate by making himself big and others smaller. Travis can be annoying and that leads to him losing relationships he enters. He has decided to give up on love and focus on the chase

The advice Travis gives Patrick is "Don't Compliment Her" and "Try to touch her ass. It's a bad sign if she won't let you." ext. Patrick awkwardly does what Travis says while his friends watch. Patrick gets yelled at by the girl. His friends laugh aloud and Patrick got pissed and stormed off. On his way home, in his anger he crosses paths with some thugs and bumps shoulders rudely. They rough him up and is about to beat his ass, when his friends come to help. They get their asses beat instead but. Patrick realizes that even though his friends aint like him, but they still like him.
